What is the difference between WPC and SPC?
In general terms, both are waterproof are well designed for look and décor but SPC is heavy and rigid while WPC is thicker and more resilient; almost softer under-foot. SPC will lay flatter over minor subfloor variations.
Are vinyl floors toxic and harmful to indoor air quality?
All vinyl flooring offered by Doublewood are certified by FloorScore, a world renowned and respected 3rd party testing laboratories, with respect to VOC’s, phthalates or other chemicals released by these products. These certifications are your assurance that there are no harmful chemicals or off-gassing with our selection of luxury vinyl floors.
Can laminate floors be installed in damp areas?
Laminate flooring is not recommended in any area of the home that will be consistently subjected to high levels of moisture. Exposure to moisture for extended periods can cause boards to swell and warp. You can install laminate flooring in dry finished basements and full bathrooms where water is not allowed to stand.
Is an underlayment required?
Using underlayment between the subfloor and the laminate boards is not required, but it is highly recommended. An underlayment will help smooth out an uneven subfloor and cushion boards to reduce noise and premature wear.
Does board thickness matter when choose laminate flooring?
Laminate board typically range from 8 millimeters (0.31 in.) to 12 millimeters (0.43 in.) thick. Thicker boards help prevent bends in the floor that can occur if the subfloor is not completely level. They also help reduce noise.
Can i/should i put laminate in a kitchen?
Standard laminate is not an ideal recommendation in a kitchen due to potential moisture build up.
